The Colony Restaurant

Setting

The Colony is located in the heart of Waikiki, on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Hotel Resort & Spa. The hotel on Kalakaua Avenue is steps away from Waikiki Beach and its statue of legendary Olympic swimmer Duke Kahanamoku. Photographs from the Bishop Museum line the dining room walls, whisking diners to Hawaii of the late 1800s to early 1900s. Among them are picturesque landscapes of Diamond Head and Maui’s Iao Needle, and portraits that pay tribute to Hawaii’s monarchial past, including those of King David Kalakaua and Princess Kaiulani, shown feeding peacocks at her home at Ainahau, which once stood near the hotel.

To get to the hotel, head east on Kalakaua Avenue, turn left onto Kaiulani Street, turn right onto Koa Avenue, and then right onto Uluniu Avenue. Valet parking is available on the right side of Uluniu, or self-park in the garage on the left side of the street, across from the valet station.
